Do I have to pay for my prescription?
Do I have to pay for my prescription?
Prescriptions issued through Cura EMR are private prescriptions, which means they aren’t subsidised by the NHS.
When you collect or receive your medication, you’ll be charged for the cost of the medicine plus a dispensing fee. Sometimes this works out cheaper than the standard NHS charge, and sometimes it may be a little more.
Because these are private prescriptions, NHS pre-payment certificates and other NHS exemptions don’t apply, no matter which pharmacy you use.
If you have private health insurance, your policy may cover some or all of the cost. You can usually claim this back afterwards, typically you’ll need a receipt showing the medication name, price, date, and pharmacy details. We’d recommend checking with your insurance provider beforehand to confirm what’s covered and what they’ll need from you.
You’re free to use any pharmacy in the UK, or you can use Halo Pharmacy for a simple way to have your medication prepared and delivered directly to you.
